Case Study — Dynamic Wireframes
Original Objective
Although simple line drawings may adequately represent the end result of an online environment, generally these pictoral applications do not track or even show the intended progress in development. ACT requested clear visuals through the Balsamic design tool, but the company had not yet seen how much more could be accomplished for the entire Agile sprint team and for every interested stakeholder.
Applied Expertise
We accomplished two insightful objectives that had not been done previously. First, our business analyst explained each individual wireframe element and attached single pages to related JIRA stories, so that responsible developers could understand exactly what was needed and why. Using comment bubbles, we added specific applicable text descriptions.
We also hid the explanatory bubbles and attached multi-page PDF illustrations to every web-based JIRA story, so that anyone reviewing our team's progress could get a bird's-eye view of the entire development process. Together, these two attachments provided a realistic overview as well as pertinent details for every bite-sized work item.
Recognized Benefit
The interactive wireframes accomplished a few more benefits. Project owners, technical leads, and business stakeholders could review and approve these images before any development began. This procedure prevented a great deal of potential rework. Secondly, testers could compare previous "as-is" states against subsequent "will-be" results to determine quickly if the final product accomplished the business line's original intent.
