Great Photos Evoke Strong Emotions
"Sometimes, life smacks you in the face... I would love to sneak that sentence into my everyday business writing or read it someday in an official report. But we all know this will never happen, because what we believe in secret seldom conforms to what we say in print. Most of the time, we don't make such editorial decisions anyway. Our rules and regulations usually come from some nebulous place higher up the corporate ladder. Even as lowly working drones, however, we retain our own experiences, objectives, and values. So how does the professional scribe determine when to fight for his or her ideas and opinions?"
Spectacular Color for Websites
Creating newsletters for website consumption offers advantages over their paper counterparts. You can use color renditions without paying the additional price for setup and printing. But be careful... You'll need to wrestle with some drawbacks as well. For example, either your image resolution won't be as sharp online, or your site's visitors may resent waiting while they download your materials. Consider sacrificing some visual clarity by including smaller graphic files that can load quickly. Sure, it's a tradeoff, but worth it to keep people returning to your website.
Using Spot Color for Emphasis
Color elicits specific reactions. We all know by now why restaurants paint their walls with peachy oranges and grassy greens — apparently this makes us salivate, and when we're hungry, we'll pay anything to satisfy our urges. But color also can play another significant role for the serious marketer. Placed strategically, blocks of color around quotations, blurbs and in subheads can direct the reader's eye flow. And once you have him or her under your spell, you can unveil your scheme to initiate a carefully orchestrated response.
